Art of Cultura: Colcha with Necha
As the Story of Malinalli evolved into a spanish folk tale some know as "La Lllorona", in this workshop we will dive into the traditional Spanish Colonial folk art of the Colcha embroidery technique which was made popular in the early 1700’s to late 1800’s in the Southwest United States in particular southern Colorado and northern New Mexico. The designs included flowers, leaves, birds and religious figures. Join us for a workshop into this unique artistry with Denver's own and emerging Chicana artist Vanessa Vasquez who is a Colcha artist in the world famous traditional Spanish Colonial Art Market in Santa Fe New Mexico.
